You qualify for bariatric surgery, if:

  • Your body mass index (BMI) is equal to or above 40 (overweight by 100 pounds in case of men and 80 pounds in case of women )
  • You have a BMI ranging between 35 and 40, in addition to a co-morbidity of obesity, such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiac problems, high cholesterol and sleep apnea
  • You have tried but failed losing weight through conventional means, such as diet and exercise
  • You are motivated enough to lose weight, and are aware of the risks associated with bariatric surgery

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved gastric banding for people with a BMI ≥ 30, who suffer from at least one serious condition associated with obesity, such as diabetes.

It is now time to make the right choices!
