Lap Band to Gastric Sleeve Revision Bariatric Surgery

Some of the types of Revision Weight Loss Surgeries are:

  • Gastric Band to Gastric Sleeve
  • Gastric Band to Gastric Bypass
  • Gastric Bypass to Gastric Band
  • Gastric Sleeve Revision

If someone has had gastric sleeve for a long time (say ten years), and the sleeve starts to grow, it can either be converted into gastric bypass or a lap band can be wound around it to restrict its capacity. Another option is re-sleeving the existing gastric pouch to make it narrower.

In case of revision of failed bypass, gastric bypass cannot be converted into gastric sleeve as the stomach is already converted into a smaller pouch. In case of gastric bypass revision, a lap band can be placed or it can be converted into a gastric pouch plication.
